I know...I can't believe that's the title either, but for any hardcore anime fans out there, the two-part Sailor Moon film (the first in the franchise to screen in Japanese theaters in 26 years) is set to arrive on Netflix in the US on June 3rd. The synopsis for both parts are below:
Part 1
A solar eclipse suddenly happens in the month of April. As the moon covers the sun, Usagi and Chibiusa meet a mysterious Pegasus named Helios, who's looking for a "chosen maiden" to help him break the seal of the Golden Crystal. "I want you to help me," he says, as he appears in Chibi-Usa's dreams. Meanwhile, a mysterious group called the Dead Moon Circus appears in Juban. Their goal: scatter nightmare incarnations called Lemures across the world, obtain the Legendary Silver Crystal, rule the Earth and Moon, and eventually the universe. Chibi-Usa, who has been called a "young maiden" by Helios, soon begins developing feelings for him. Mamoru distances himself from Usagi, fearing that being near her will put her in danger.
Part 2
The ten Sailor Guardians have gathered for the final battle. However, the Queen of the Dead Moon, Nehelenia, attacks with the power of her "nightmares". While Helios uses his last ounce of strength to save the Earth, Usagi is drawn into Nehelenia's nightmare, but is encouraged by the strong heart of Tuxedo Mask. Joining forces with her fellow Super Sailor Guardians, she transforms into Eternal Sailor Moon. Finally, all "Eternalized" Sailor Guardians have gathered.
In Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie, “When a dark power enshrouds earth and a dark circus troupe appears after a total solar eclipse, the scattered Sailor Guardians must reunite to bring light back into the world…”
The storyline was previously adapted from the manga for the fourth season of the original 1990's anime series. And for fans of that iteration, you'll be happy to know the original VIZ Media English cast is returning to dub the film for the states (apparently the heavily censored DiC dubs is hated by most fans). The cast list given today is below:
Stephanie Sheh is Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon
Kate Higgins is Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury
Cristina Vee as Rei Hino/Sailor Mars
Amanda C. Miller is Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter
Cherami Leigh as Minako Aino/Sailor Venus
Sandy Fox is Chibi-Usa / Sailor Chibi Moon
Veronica Taylor as Setsuna Meioh/Sailor Pluto
Erica Mendez is Haruka Tenoh/Sailor Uranus
Lauren Landa is Michiru Kaioh/Sailor Neptune
Christine Marie Cabanos as Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn
