Trailer: HBO Max's "The Staircase"

With the craze for true crime at it's peak, it seems right that more and more are using this truth for fictional portrayals. However, the new HBO Max series The Staircase, may tell the true story of author Michael Peterson being convicted of his murdering his wife (who was found dead at the bottom of the staircase in their home, but it's actually based on the structure and revelations of the 2004 true crime docuseries of the same name created by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade. Still, the new trailer released today presents a truly intense recreation of the events that transpired.

Starring Colin Firth as Michael Peterson and Toni Collette as Kathleen Peterson, created and written by Antonio Campos and Maggie Cohn with Campos directing six of the eight planned episodes for this limited series that will premiere its first three episodes on HBO Max on May 5th. The massive ensemble will also include the likes of Michael Stuhlbarg, Juliette Binoche, Dane DeHaan, Olivia DeJonge, Rosemarie DeWitt, Tim Guinee, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sophie Turner, Vincent Vermignon, Odessa Young, and Parker Posey. Check out the official trailer below:

With someone of Firth's caliber leading the series, this is sure to be a magnificent portrayal of one of the most tragic and horrific true crime stories ever heard of. Stay tuned!

Replying to

I was thinking the same thing. If I can't last 3 minutes then I won't last a whole episode. Way to go HBO
