"If you can adapt, you can make it a series" seems to be the new mantra of TV production. Lately, every book there is is getting a limited series greenlight and one based on Amor Towles' 2016 sophomore novel A Gentleman in Moscow is no exception.
The story is simple. In a somewhat Kafkaesque situation, Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov (McGregor) returns to Russia following the Russian Revolution and is arrested, forced to spend decades banished to an attic hotel room by a Bolshevik tribunal. The result is an eccentric, somewhat comedic story about a man who contends with his limited space and oddball permanent residents of the hotel. Check it out below:
Ben Vanstone is writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the series. It is set to premiere on Paramount+ on March 29th.
