Quite a few unlikely things have happened in 2020. The Snyder Cut was approved, Keeping Up with the Kardashians is ending after 20 seasons...and apparently so is The Walking Dead. It's confirmed by AMC that the show that served as a cornerstone to the network's original programming will end with an upcoming super-sized eleventh season consisting of 24 episodes, the first 12 airing in 2021 and the final 12 bowing in 2022.
While the main series will end, AMC has confirmed they are working on a spin-off focusing on the two remaining original cast members who have remained with the show since the first season, Norman Reedus’ Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol. That series will premiere in 2023 and an anthology-themed spin-off is currently being worked on.
The show is currently awaiting to air it's season ten finale on October 4th (Due to the industry-wide shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and that will be followed by six bonus episodes that will air in early 2021. So, the main series will die...but like it's titular creatures...it will rot away quite slowly. Stay tuned!
Yep, zombies are boring.
It had a good run. Should have ended about 5 seasons ago.
