Following their collaborations in 2013's Out of the Furnace and 2017's Hostiles, actor Christian Bale and director Scott Cooper are reuniting for their third collaboration together. Specifically, an adaptation of Louis Bayard’s 2003 novel The Pale Blue Eye.
Spoken by Cooper as his “attempt at a large-canvas whodunit, with a serial killer at its center", the story will see Bale starring as a veteran detective who attempts to solve a series of murders that took place in 1830 at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Aiding him in this investigation, is a young cadet named Edgar Allan Poe (Yes, THAT Poe who was in fact in the military as a failed police cadet before going on to, in irony, inventing the detective fiction genre and was a major influence on sci-fi and horror).
The film is set up over at Cross Creek Pictures and will begin production in the Fall with Cooper, Bale, John Lesher, and Tyler Thompson producing. Stay tuned!
So who's playing poe?
