David Lowery is one creative force not afraid to try new things. The writer/director has done such strange concepts as a tragic love story wrapped in a crime drama (Ain't Them Bodies Saints), an existential dive into the afterlife (A Ghost Story), and even a classic heist film with a biopic element to it (The Old Man and the Gun). But for his next project, he will try his hand at a fantasy concept, The Green Knight, based on the poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight that deals with King Arthur's nephew Gawain who embarks on a quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight. And now, A24 (the studio behind the film) have released a series of gorgeous characters posters focused on Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), the Green Knight himself (Ralph Ineson), Lady (Alicia Vikander), Lord (Joel Edgerton), a blindfolded woman, and a fox. Check them out below:
On the Twitter post they were revealed on, the caption read "one year hence", a line from the poem as part of a deal Gawain makes with the Green Knight. Although, in real-life, the film will be released on July 30th, WAY more than a year since the film was supposed to on May 29th, 2021. Better late than never, right?
The Green Knight co-stars Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, and Barry Keoghan.
