It was rather strange to discover that Mel Gibson had been cast in the John Wick spin-off series The Continental before the lead character, a younger version of Ian McShane's character Winston, was cast. Luckily, that situation has been fixed as it's been confirmed that actor Colin Woodell (known for his roles in the TV shows The Purge and The Originals) has been cast in the lead role.
The series, broken up into three 90-minute mini-movie episodes (a la a season of Sherlock), the show will follow a young Winston Scott along with exploring the origin behind the titular hotel-for-assassins. The series will observe as Winston is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind and sees Winston chart a deadly course through the New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel. Woodell and Gibson will be joined by the additional cast members announced. The show will also star Mishel Prada as KD, Hubert Point Du-Jour as Miles, Jessica Allain as Lou, Nhung Kate as Yen, and Ben Robson as Frankie. Gibson is set to play a character named Cormac.
Starz and Lionsgate Television are producing the series. Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward are writing the event series and serve as showrunners. John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently filming as well, set to hit theaters May 27th, 2022. Stay tuned!
Thank goodness it's going to have that guy from those shows I've never watched.
