It's a wonder why Christopher Nolan wanted his new film Tenet to the first big blockbuster released as theater restrictions have begun to relax, despite us still in the midst of the COVID-19 quarantine. It's no secret he a purest of the cinema experience, fighting the change ways audiences can see movies. Yet, if there is any filmmaker whose stories demand the big screen presentation, it's Nolan. Particularly a film he took more than five years to write the screenplay for (After deliberating about the film's central ideas for over a decade). So it's understandable why he wants this particular film to be experienced in the big screen.
Whatever the reason, the film will first be released internationally on August 26, 2020 in seventy countries, notably in China which recently opened it's theaters back up. And Nolan is so determined to get that major market back into the theater, he has filmed an introduction specifically for them, asking them to come see the movie in theaters:
And with that introduction came this Chinese TV spot that delves a little more into the Time Inversion plot device that the film is boasting about:
And for US audiences, who see be able to see the film in select theaters on September 4th (Labor Day weekend, an IMAX TV spot has been released as well:
Tenet stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh.
@Rambo: Like a lot of Nolan’s movies, this one has potential obviously on a narrative level. But problem is he keeps so much of his films hidden in marketing that it’s going to be hard to tell. I think it’s at least interesting and original for sure and with any film nowadays that’s good.
What are your thoughts so far,Sleuth? from seeing the trailers and tv spots?
