It sort of was inevitable, given that an underling tone of the show is the way the past comes back to haunt us, but it's now confirmed that actor Thomas Ian Griffith will reprise his role of Terry Silver for season 4 of Cobra Kai! This was confirmed through a new teaser which you can check out below:
Silver was originally introduced in The Karate Kid Part III as the co-founder of the the show's titular dojo and schemed with John Kreese (Played by Martin Kove) to get revenge on Daniel after he ruined Cobra Kai by defeating them in the first film at the All Valley Tournament of 1984. Season 3 of Cobra Kai ended with Kreese having complete control over Cobra Kai as Johnny and Daniel team up with their students to prepare for the next All Valley Tournament with hopes to bring the dojo down in front of the world. Near the end of the finale, Kreese made a call to someone who most audiences believed was Silver. This teaser seems to confirm those theories.
In announcing Silver's return, executive producers/writers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg released the following statement:
“Since the beginning of the series, we’ve been carefully orchestrating the right moment to unleash Cobra Kai dojo co-founder Terry Silver back into the universe. That moment is now. We can’t wait for the whole world to experience Thomas Ian Griffith’s majestic return to the franchise.”
Hopefully, Silver's return will be much like the other veterans of the franchise that have appeared in the last three years. Offering a nice hint of nostalgia while helping to push Johnny and Daniel forward in their narratives. Season 4 of Cobra Kai is set to premiere later this year on Netflix. Stay tuned!
