Following up his 2018 acclaimed film The Favourite, director Yorgos Lanthimos may be re-teaming with Emma Stone, who was one of the performers in that film. And he's bringing along an interesting actor to pair with her.
It's been confirmed that Stone and Willem Dafoe are both in talks to join Lanthimos' new film Poor Things, based on the 1992 Alasdair Gray novel of the same name and serving as a Victorian-style take on the classic story, Frankenstein. Specifically, if signed on, Dafoe would play a scientist who brings back a young woman named Belle Baxter (Presumably who Stone would play) and the story would focus on be from her perspective. Stone is already set to produce the film alongside Lanthimos so it seems a strong bet she will sign on to star.
Little else is known about the project except Lanthimos will co-write the script with Tony McNamara while the project is being set-up over at Searchlight and Film4. Stay tuned!
I'm something of a scientist myself
