James Gunn seems to be expanding over at DC the same way he did at Marvel. While he is indeed set to return to the MCU to complete the third installment of his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise (Although, no confirmation if it will be his final film in the series), he is currently building his own corner of the DC Extended Universe as well. He's not only directing The Suicide Squad, but he's also working on a TV spin-off titled Peacemaker that will premiere on HBO Max and see John Cena reprising his role from the new film. Now, in another interesting addition to this, it's been confirmed by Sylvester Stallone that he will, similar to his cameo in Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, will also make an appearance in The Suicide Squad. Stallone had this to say:
“I think it’s going to be a spectacular effort. I saw it and it’s unbelievable, so I’m very proud to be included and I can’t tell you anything more about it because you’re going to have to wait and see that but it’s going to be well worth the wait.”
You can also put up the video he released on Twitter that confirms his involvement below:
Gunn is currently in post-production on the film which wrapped filming back in February.
The Suicide Squad co-stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi, and Viola Davis. It is set to hit theaters August 6th, 2021.
He will be playing the anti-hero Stroke Face
The older he gets the more he looks like his caricature 😆
