"Spider-Man: Miles Morales" Has It's Own Arc, Confirms Creative Director

While it's not a formal sequel to the hit 2018 video game Marvel's Spider-Man, Insomniac's smaller spin-off game, the upcoming PlayStation 5 launch title Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, has been promised today to very much offer it's own full story arc for the titular character. Bryan Intihar, creative director at Insomniac Games confirmed this today while speaking with Entertainment Weekly. The below image links to the EW Twitter post that in turn links to the original article:

In the interview, Intihar quoted the following statement:

“We really are completing this hero’s coming of age in our game. It is a complete story. When we started crafting it we realized that, with a little bit more of a compact storytelling style, we could tell a very emotionally impactful story that would fit really well as an experience that would take Spider-Man 1 and [Miles Morales] and do justice to this character.”

Like similar spin-offs like Uncharted: Lost Legacy and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, which featured side characters from the main installments of their respective franchises taking center stage, Intihar confirms every facet of the game is specifically character-driven toward Miles Morales, even going as far as to compare how it's different from Peter Parker's arc:

“It's more so born out of family. What I think is really compelling about Miles as a character is he has friends that he could actually let into his world – his human world and his Spider world. He’s a little different in the way he approaches it.”

The new game takes place one year later as Miles must deal with the warring factions between a crime syndicate using advanced technology and a major energy corporation. In the original 2018 game, specifically the post-game story DLC "The City That Never Sleeps", Peter Parker hinted that he would be going on a vacation with Mary Jane Watson. It's quite possible that will be the way to explain why Miles Morales has to take center stage as the hero of New York City.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will hit shelves sometime in Holiday 2020 alongside the launch of Playstation 5.
