One of the popular Sonic games is Sonic Colors which originally launched exclusively on Wii and Nintendo DS back in 2010. And now, after a leak several months that teased it, a remaster of the game, titled Sonic Colors: Ultimate, has been announced today to be landing on on September 7th for Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Check out the announcement trailer for it below:
While Sega did promise a "few new features" will be added, the Sonic Colors: Ultimate will retain the core gameplay mechanics of the original which, similar to other games in the franchises, sees players collect rings and defeating enemies with the camera perspective occasionally switching from third-person to side-scrolling perspectives. However, the original game also introduced Wisps, power-ups the player can use to increase attack power and reach new areas. They will, of course, return in the remaster.
To tie in with the remaster, a two episode animated miniseries centered around the Wisps, titled Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps, is scheduled to be released in Summer 2021. It's also been confirmed fans who pre-order the physical edition will get a bonus keychain of Baby Sonic who was featured in the Sonic the Hedgehog film. Stay tuned!
