Blumhouse hopes to repeat the success of their recent Halloween film by trying to jumpstart another old property with the upcoming remake of 1984's Firestarter which in turn was based on 1980 Stephen King novel of the same name. A remake that has confirmed it's begun filming with a Twitter video today that shows a dangerous stunt in progress. Check it out below:
Filming is currently happening in Hamilton, Ontario. King was not particularly impressed with the original 1984 film, calling it “flavorless” like “cafeteria mashed potatoes.” However, he has shown enthusiasm for the remake by wishing the cast and crew luck recently as filming was set to commence. As the stunt shows above, the remake seems to be leaning towards practical effects which, hopefully, will leave a potent impact on audiences.
Firestarter stars Zac Efron and Michael Greyeyes. It is directed by Keith Thomas.
