Schrader's "Master Gardener" Casts Edgerton & Weaver

Just a little over a week before his newest film The Card Counter is set to hit theaters (September 10th), it's been confirmed that writer/director Paul Schrader's next film will be Master Gardner, a crime thriller that already has it's two principal stars cast. Like his other directorial efforts First Reformed and The Card Counter, Schrader will both write and direct this new film. In a statement released in conjunction with the announcement of the film, Schrader had this to say how the idea for the story spawned:

“When the idea first started it was one of my male protagonists but then these two women intervened and it became something more complex and unique."

Schrader's newest film will see Joel Edgerton star as the titular master gardener of an American estate who is forced to confront his dark past. In addition, Sigourney Weaver will co-star as his employer, a wealthy dowager, who demands that the gardener take on her wayward and troubled great-niece as a new apprentice. From there...chaos ensues. Principal photography is scheduled to begin early next year in the United States.

Amanda Crittenden of KOJO Studios and Scott LaStaiti will produce together with David Gonzales, Schrader’s manager. Gonzales is co-representing the North American sale of rights alongside HanWay Films (who will handle international sales and distribution). Luisa Law and KOJO Studios’ Linda Ujuk and Dale Roberts will executive produce. Stay tuned!

I just went to Paul Schrader's IMDB and the last film he wrote that I recognized was from 1988.

Sounds boring as hell. Hedge trimming with character development? No thanks.
