Rumor: Tom Hardy is Next James Bond?

Often, like Doctor Who, the point in casting James Bond is find a relatively unknown to keep audiences focused in on the character and not the star behind the role. It truly is strange than to hear today that a major rumor is flying around, big enough that major UK news outlets like The Daily Mail and The Mirror are reporting it. One that claims two-time Oscar nominee Tom Hardy could be taking on the role next after Daniel Craig exits in his expected final turn as the character in No Time to Die (Out this November...hopefully).

The rumor is connected to a claim that Hardy auditioned for the role back in June and was offered the part. The rumor has gone as far as to claim he's already been offered the part and the producers will announce his involvement around the time Craig's last film comes out (Which wsa later changed to potentially 2021 as there is no certainty if No Time to Die will even hit theaters this November). A sort of passing of the torch, as it would seem.

Hardy has in the past showed his interest in the role and rumors have flied for some time that he was seen as a candidate for the part. He had this to say when it came to those rumors:

“If I mention it, it’s gone. You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one."

Time will tell what happens. While Hardy is 43, he's not the oldest actor to take on the role. That honor lies with Roger Moore who began playing the character at 45. So, really anything is possible. Stay tuned!
