Just about halfway through the show's eight-episode first season, the acclaimed FX series Reservation Dogs (which is currently playing on Hulu) has just gotten a second season order ahead of it's season one finale that will air on September 20th. The news was broke by The Hollywood Reporter (THR). Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX, had nothing but praise in the statement he released today:
“We couldn’t wait to share Reservation Dogs with viewers and are thrilled that they seem to love it as much as we do. We’re happy to put in an early order for another season. Sterlin Harjo delivered on his creative vision, partnering with Taika Waititi and the rest of the creative team, the brilliant cast and crew to create one of TV’s best new comedies and a groundbreaking showcase of representation and raw talent.”
Focusing on the lives of four Indigenous teens living on a reservation in rural Oklahoma as they mourn the loss of a friend and dream of moving to California, the show was co-created by Taika Waititi and Sterlin Harjo. They based the concept off their individual personal experiences growing up. Looks like the personal investment paid off! Stay tuned!
