Ready to be one of the strangest horror films this year, Cryo continues the long-standing tradition of the genre where you plop several mysterious characters into an isolated situation and are forced to confront a cryptic situation and, of course, creative that begins to hunt them. Keeping with this kind of film, the poster of course tries to create a twisted take on this imprisonment through the classic symbolism of nature and machine possessing them:
The film is the latest in Saban Films attempts to jump into the movie business with original films after previously being known for shows like the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers that would on-occasion get film spin-offs produced through other studios. While serving as co-writer on the film with director Barrett Burgin (in his feature-length film debut), Mason D. Davis co-stars in the film as one of five scientists who awake from a cryogenic sleep and find themselves trapped in an underground facility. They have no memory of who they are or how long they've been asleep, they are identified only by vocation and number. However, they are able to quickly deduce they are somehow part of a scientific experiment gone wrong and are being hunted...potentially by one of their own. And as the trailer shows, it will be a race to discover the origins of the whole event before they all permanently end up on ice.
Check out the trailer below:
Cryo co-stars Jyllian Petrie, Emily Marie Palmer, Morgan Gunter, Curt Doussett, and Michael Flynn. It has yet to receive a release date though it's confirmed that the film has a runtime of 158 minutes.
What if we rip off about three different cult classics and cram them all into one film?
Fantastic idea.
