Director Martin Campbell (GoldenEye, The Mask of Zorro, Casino Royale) hasn't been at the helm of a movie since 2017's The Foreigner. But lo and behold he returns for the upcoming assassin flick The Protégé. Like Campbell's other films, his newest project brings together a strong cast to the story. The synopsis is as follows:
Rescued as a child by the legendary assassin Moody (Played by Samuel L. Jackson) and trained in the family business, Anna (Played by Maggie Q) is the world’s most skilled contract killer. But when Moody – the man who was like a father to her and taught her everything she needs to know about trust and survival – is brutally killed, Anna vows revenge. As she becomes entangled with an enigmatic killer (Played by Michael Keaton) whose attraction to her goes way beyond cat and mouse, their confrontation turns deadly, and the loose ends of a life spent killing will weave themselves even tighter.
Today, the official trailer has been released. Check it out below:
The Protégé is set to land in theaters on August 20th.
It actually looks pretty good, or at least way better than the exact same movie with Jessica Chastain and John Malkovich.
