Set to see the return of Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster in the front of the camera (After mostly doing directing work for the last several years), The Mauritanian is set to serve as a late entry in the Oscar race for the year (Which was extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic halting production industry-wide for several months). Based on the true story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, the synopsis is as follows:
Mohamedou Ould Salahi (Played by Tahar Rahim) is captured by the U.S. government and languishing in Guantanamo Bay detention camp without charge or trial. Losing all hope, Salahi finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Played by Foster) and her associate Teri Duncan (Played by Shailene Woodley). Together, they face countless obstacles in a desperate pursuit for justice. Their controversial advocacy, along with evidence uncovered by formidable military prosecutor, Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch (Played by Benedict Cumberbatch), eventually reveals a shocking and far reaching conspiracy.
Today, the official trailer for the film has been released. Check it out below:
The Mauritanian co-stars Zachary Levi. It is directed by Kevin Macdonald and is set to hit theaters on February 19, 2021.
The last 2 seconds of the trailer are the best... Haven't heard the trailer guy talking in a long time!
