Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year to solid reviews, the surprisingly dark comedy The Kid Detective will be hitting theaters this Friday, October 16th. So it's surprising how close the trailer is to the film's release. But, in any case, the synopsis is as follows:
A once-celebrated kid detective, now 32 (Played by Adam Brody), continues to solve the same trivial mysteries between hangovers and bouts of self-pity. Until a naïve client (Played by Sophie Nélisse) brings him his first "adult" case, to find out who brutally murdered her boyfriend.

The Kid Detective co-stars Sarah Sutherland. It is written and directed by Evan Morgan.
