Official Trailer: "The Forever Purge"

The last time the Purge franchise was on the big screen, it was the 2018 prequel film The First Purge (the fourth installment overall in the series) that delved into how the US began the yearly Purge Day that allowed people to, for one night, commit any crime (including murder) without legal repercussions. The reason for a prequel was that The Purge: Election Year (the third installment) saw the new US president put an end to the Purge. So what is this upcoming fifth and final film in the series The Forever Purge (set after Election Year) going to be about?

Essentially, it take place one year after the presidential elections that abolished the Purge and follows a Mexican couple escaping from a drug cartel who find themselves stranded on a Texas ranch. There, they will be at the mercy of a group of outsiders who plan to unlawfully continue their own Purge, and turn against the couple to eliminate them. In other words, the film will bring focus to an issue often brought up in real-life whenever a law is passed or reform of any kind is discussed. Yes, the law-abiding citizens will follow it...but the bad ones won't. Something the official trailer for The Forever Purge is making sure audiences are aware of. Check it out below:

The Forever Purge stars Ana de la Reguera, Josh Lucas, Tenoch Huerta, Leven Rambin, Will Patton, and Cassidy Freeman. It is directed by Everardo Gout and is set to be released in theaters on July 2nd.
