Adapted for the screen by Steven Levenson from his and Pasek & Paul's 2015 stage musical of the same name, Dear Evan Hansen has a surprising powerhouse ensemble behind it. Beyond younger up-and-comers Kaitlyn Dever and Amandla Stenberg, noted actresses Amy Adams and Julianne Moore also help round out the cast. The synopsis is as follows:
Evan Hansen (Played by Ben Platt who originated the role on stage), a high school student with social anxiety disorder, takes advantage of the suicide of a classmate for his own emotional gain, after accidentally letting a letter he wrote to himself be taken by the classmate, whose family mistakes it for it having been written to Evan by their son.
Today, the official trailer for the film has been released. Check it out below:
Dear Evan Hansen co-stars Nik Dodani, Colton Ryan, and Danny Pino. It is directed by Stephen Chbosky and is set to be released in theaters on September 24th.
This trailer is the single gayest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. I award it no points and may God have mercy on it's soul.
