After his last film 6 Underground being a Netflix exclusive, director Michael Bay returns to the theater with a more-centered cast and premise. Which, judging by the new trailer, Ambulance is Bay at his best...or at least his better form.
The upcoming thriller sees Jake Gyllenhaal going from his similar "against the clock" film The Guilty earlier this year to this new tale where he plays Danny, a criminal friend who convinces his desperate friend Will Sharp (Played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) to take part in a $32 million bank heist. With Will needing $231,000 for his wife's surgery, he takes part only for the robbery to go wrong when the two shoot an LAPD officer. The pair soon find themselves on the run in an ambulance with EMT Cam Thompson (Played by Eiza González) and the dying officer as their hostages.
The film will take place over a single day in Los Angeles and that sort of time restraint could work in Bay's favor. As the trailer shows, it's quite possible this could be Bay's best film in years:
Ambulance is set to land in theaters on February 18th, 2022.
