The HBO black comedy series The Righteous Gemstones has gained quite the following since it first premiered back in 2019. So much so that the delayed second season has only made the show more beloved. In fact, the series is already set for a third season, but for now, a new teaser has been released, confirming a premiere date for January 9th.
The new season will continue the story of a family of wealthy televangelists led by widower Eli Gemstone (Played by John Goodman) along with season 1's plot of a mysterious gang of blackmailers exploiting Eli's eldest son Jesse (Played by Danny McBride, who created the series). In addition to Goodman and McBride, Adam Devine and Edi Patterson return as Kelvin and Judy, respectively. Joining the cast this season is Walton Goggins as Eli's estranged brother-in-law, "Baby" Billy Freeman. The new teaser also has a heavy focus on Eric Andre's new recurring character Lyle Lissons, a freewheeling megachurch pastor from Texas, while delving into the new season's main storyline. Namely, the Gemstone children vying for control of the family business. Check the trailer out below:
