While Universal Pictures will retain home entertainment and linear television rights to the film, the upcoming post-apocalyptic film Finch (originally titled BIOS) is another example of a film that had to be sold to a streaming service to make some kind of profit during the COVID-19 pandemic where many people are afraid to go to the physical theater. That doesn't make it any less intriguing as the film is set to be released on Apple TV+ on November 5th.
Based on a spec script by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell that was revealed to be on 2017's "Black List" of most-liked unproduced screenplay, the film sees Tom Hanks as the titular character Finch, an ailing inventor and the last man on Earth. The onset of the story sees him build an android named Jeff (Played by Caleb Landry Jones in motion-capture) to keep him and his dog company and goes on a journey across the country. Like many of Hanks' greatest films, the story will see him trying to show the beauty in the world, even a dying one as he prepares for his own death and having to leave his dog behind.
While a trailer is probably going to be released soon, an official poster has been released focusing on the lead trio of characters. Check it out below:
Finch co-stars Samira Wiley, Laura Harrier, and Skeet Ulrich. It is directed by Miguel Sapochnik.
