The two Pacific Rim films didn't exactly light the box office on fire, despite brilliant visuals and being wonderful homages to the classic Kaiju monster flicks that Guillermo del Toro aspired his concept to be like. That being said, perhaps taking the story back to the Japanese-influenced roots in the upcoming anime Pacific Rim: The Black might be exactly what the franchise needs. And as Netflix announces it's premiere date for next month, on March 4th, the first tease of footage indicates a more impacting depiction of the concepts first introduced in the film and a more grim, apocalyptic tone that feels more appropriate for the story.
