Another film...well actually films...that are the victim of the COVID-19 pandemic are the Fear Street trilogy based on the R.L. Stine books of the same name. However, Netflix once again has come to save the day, having snatched up the distribution rights from Fox last year and now the streaming service has released a trailer revealing when each installment will be released.
The films will be interconnected, using the framing device of a group of teenagers who discover that the terrifying events that have haunted their town of Shadyside, Ohio goes back generations. Each installment will be set in a different time periods across three centuries and Netflix confirmed today that the three films will be released over three consecutive weeks in July. The first installment, Fear Street Part 1: 1994, will be released on July 2nd. The second installment, Fear Street Part 2: 1978, will be released on July 9th. The third and final installment, Fear Street Part 3: 1666. In addition, the films are all rated-R, contrary to the more kid-centric series Goosebumps. To see just how different it is, check out the trailer below:
All three Fear Street films are directed by Leigh Janiak who co-wrote the first and third film with Phil Graziadei while the second film was written by Janiak and Zak Olkewikz. Stay tuned!
