The US release of the big budget, live-action remake of Mulan on Disney+ (For a price of $30), is a test to see if audiences will consider paid video-on-demand as an alternative to theatrical releases. This all with the fact the Niki Caro-directed film being recently approved for theatrical release in China sometime in the near future (It's been set to be released September 4th in a few Asian markets, the same day it will hit Disney+)
With all that, Disney is still marketing the film the way they would if it was hitting theaters with one final trailer released today. Check it out below:
