Movie Fact #33 - September 19th, 2020

Kal Penn getting the lead role of Nikhil "Gogol" Ganguli in 2006's The Namesake was actually all because of Harold & Kumar. The 2003 novel the film was based on, written by author Jhumpa Lahiri, was recommended to Penn by John Cho (His co-star in the Harold & Kumar films) and Penn was strongly requested by the son of the film film's director, Mira Nair, who was in turn a fan of Penn in Harold and Kumar. So one namesake led to another! Stay tuned!
