The Godfather has gone on to become one of the most recognized and influential gangster films of all-time. Compared to today's films, it's violence was very tame but at the time, some of it's more violent scenes were considered extreme. As it turns out, part of this was because of the studio behind the film, Paramount Pictures. Turns out, they wanted The Godfather to appeal to a wide audience and threatened Coppola with a "violence coach" to make the film more exciting. As a result, Coppola added a few more violent scenes to keep the studio happy. The scene above, where Connie (Played by Talia Shire) smashes crockery after finding out her husband Carlo (Played by Gianni Russo) has been cheating, was added for this reason
