Geoffrey Rush plays the older version of pianist David Helfgott in the 1996 biographical film Shine. However, Rush actually had taken piano as a child before being suspended at 14 and never taking it up again. That is until this film where Rush actually resumed piano lessons in order not to require a hand double. It seemed well worth it as Rush would go on to win Best Actor at the Academy Awards the next year for this performance. Stay tuned!
