2000's Wonder Boys was on those films that almost didn't happen if it wasn't for the involvement of it's lead actor Michael Douglas. In fact, Paramount was not interested in making a quirky, character-driven comedy-drama until Douglas agreed to work well below his usual large fee. And he invested himself in the role in every way. To play his role of Professor Grady Tripp, Douglas gained 25 pounds for the film by eating pizza, subs and drinking a lot of beer. Who says filmmaking can't be fun? Stay tuned!
