The end of the diner scene in 1970's Five Easy Pieces, where the character Robert "Bobby" Eroica Dupea sweeps all the glasses off the table after arguing with the waitress was actually directly inspired by the actor who played Bobby himself...a very young Jack Nicholson. Nicholson actually did this very act himself once at a coffee shop, when the manageress took his coffee away despite him only having just arrived, because the group of fellow actors he'd joined had been there for hours and were being told to leave. And that is how you get an Oscar nomination. Stay tuned!
