Movie Fact #143 - January 14th, 2021

There are also many water-based sequences in the 2007 Pixar film Ratatouille. One of those sequences is set in the sewers and is more complex than the blue whale scene in Pixar's 2003 film Finding Nemo. Another scene has the human character Linguini get wet after jumping into the Seine to fetch the main rat character, Remy. To make that effect work, a Pixar employee (Shade/Paint department coordinator Kesten Migdal) jumped into Pixar's swimming pool wearing a chef's uniform and apron to see which parts of the suit stuck to his body and which became translucent from water absorption. With this, they managed to create more realistic physic effects than every before. Stay tuned!
