Momoa Reveals Script Contributions to "Aquaman 2"

Aquaman ended up doing better than anyone could have hoped for, revealed to be one of the most positive things developed during the early stage of the DCEU. While the movie received mixed reviews, it ultimately ended up making over $1 billion at the box office and, for a time anyway, had a spin-off in the works focused on the horror-fuel that was the Trench. Even still, the sequel is highly anticipated which will see James Wan return to direct along with lead actor Jason Momoa returning as Arthur Curry/Aquaman and Amber Heard as Arthur's love interesting, Mera. As it turns out, for the sequel, Momoa got even more involved this time around, revealing in an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show that he actually contributed to the sequel's script:

"After we ended the first one I went in with my writing partner and we dreamed up the second one and we went in and pitched the idea. The best thing I can give you is that I love it so much that I participated in the writing of it. And so, we did the first treatment and then James and our original writer David [Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick] finished it off. And all of our hearts are in it. Instead of just like getting a script and doing that, you are 100% being encouraged by your director and co-writers. So that’s exciting for me and I’m excited to go over there. I leave in July and we start filming."

While he didn't reveal any specifics, it's relieving to know that all the creative forces involved are working in synch with the result, hopefully, being a stupendous sequel that is as entertaining as the first film. Aquaman 2 is set to be released in theaters on December 16, 2022.

Me and my writing partner wrote a retarded script. Then the original writers rewrote it for us to make it less retarded.
