Following the confirmed casting of the franchise's original actors Courteney Cox and David Arquette (With lead star Neve Campbell in talks to reprise her role as well), it's been confirmed today that Melissa Barrera is the first bit of new blood to be cast for the anticipated fifth Scream. Barrera wa recently seen in the show Vida and will be seen in the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit Broadway show In the Heights.
Barrera's casting unofficially commences the additional casting that is now underway with production expected to kick off in Wilmington, North Carolina at the end of the year. The film is being handled over at Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett set to co-helm the project. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will be penning the script with original Scream writer Kevin Williamson executive producing. Stay tuned!
