McGregor Teases "Obi-Wan" Series

Following the mixed received Star Wars sequel film trilogy, most of Lucasfilms' upcoming projects are limited series on Disney+. And many are basically fan-fulfilled, including the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi solo series that will take place about ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, with Ewan McGregor returning. While promoting his new Netflix series Halston on Jimmy Kimmel Live, McGregor was asked by Kimmel to devulge a little about the upcoming Star Wars series. While he kept it pretty ominous, McGregor did tease a new look for the character:

“It feels great. I have to say I’m having a really, really good time. The costume is probably slightly different than you might expect. But to go back into the role, shall we say, is great. It’s all still there. It feels great. There are some great scripts and great people to work with. It’s great. I’m having a good time.”

In addition, McGregor actually gave a shoutout to the virtual sound stages (called The Volume) that was first utilized on The Mandalorian, but will now be used for McGregor's series as well:

“Before [while shooting the prequels] we did months of blue screen and green screen acting. Now, we’ve got this extraordinary technology where you work inside of a big screen and the backgrounds are on there. It feels much more realistic.”

Little else is known about the plot except Hayden Christensen will return to play Darth Vader. However, in the interview McGregor says he got to film a special scene on Star Wars Day (May the 4th) and that he got to film it “with someone very special in my life”, adding it wasn’t anyone audiences gave seen him on camera with before.

Deborah Chow is helming the entire Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Stay tuned!
