Courtesy of Indiewire, an exclusive new teaser trailer has been released online for Mainstream, a bizarre satire based around social media trending and the lunacy it brings. Directed by Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, has previously expressed her reasons for exploring this subject and why she finds social media so compelling, quoted as saying the following:
“It’s designed that way! But I’m particularly fascinated how it effects and shapes us as humans beings and as a collective.”
The story will primarily deal with three people struggling to preserve their identities as they form an eccentric love triangle within the fast-moving internet age. And as the teaser trailer shows...that struggle will not be easy. Check it out below:
Mainstream stars Andrew Garfield, Maya Hawke, Nat Wolff, Johnny Knoxville, and Jason Schwartzman. It is scheduled to be released on May 7th.
