Jerrod Carmichael Joins "Poor Things"

Following Mark Ruffalo's casting in Poor Things a few days ago, today Jerrod Carmichael has been announced to join the upcoming Yorgos Lanthimos-directed film which is adapted from the novel of the same name by Alasdair Grey.

A Frankenstein-esque story with a twist, the film will see Emma Stone star as Belle Baxterm, a young woman brought back to life by eccentric scientist, Dr. Godwin Baxter (Played by Dafoe). Ruffalo is playing the character of Duncan Wedderburn while Ramy Youssef is playing Max McCandless. Carmichael was announced today to be joining the cast in the role of Harry Astley. Carmichael previously collaborated with Youssef, serving as executive producer of Youssef's Emmy-nominated comedy.

Filming is set to begin later this year. The script is written by Tony McNamara who previously co-wrote Lanthimos' film The Favourite. Lanthimos, aside from directing, is producing alongside Stone (in association with her Fruit Tree Banner), Element Pictures’ Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, and Film4.
