While Scott Derrickson leaving Doctor Strange 2 due to creative differences may seem like a bummer for fans of the first film, it is also a blessing for those who prefer the director's original preference to the horror genre. While The Black Phone already debuted to strong reviews at Fantastic Fest last September, due to the influx of theatrical releases that are still backed up from 2020 when the theaters were closed, the film won't land in theaters until June 24th. Still, marketing is building up with Derrickson himself posting the official international poster for the film. The poster in particular, based on the language, is from Finland and can be viewed below:
The Black Phone stars Mason Thames and Ethan Hawke.
>My sister died, father. Shortly after I died. I used all my strength to appear to Kylo Ren, your grandson, and killed myself making fun of him. Then your daughter killed herself to distract him just for a second so Palpatine's granddaughter could stab him, but she made him better so he could also kill himself saving her. The Force is strong in my family. So is suicide, as it turns out.
That's a black phone alright...
