Serving as his first role since completing the show Loki, Tom Hiddleston has been confirmed to co-star in the long-in-development Apple+ series The Essex Serpent, based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Perry. Though this time, instead of playing the snake, he'll be pursuing it.
The show had last been reported to have Claire Danes recast in the lead, replacing original star Keira Knightley who dropped out of the role due to scheduling conflict. Hiddleston is already filming as demonstrated by the first look photo of him in character that was released today alongside the release. Check it out below:
Hiddleston will play Will Ransome, the leader of the small rural community of Aldwinter (Located near Essex) that becomes wrapped up in the mysterious sightings of a local superstition. A mystical creature known as the Essex Serpent. Arriving from Victorian London, the newly widowed Cora (Played by Danes) has escaped an abusive marriage and becomes intrigued with the creature's sightings.
The miniseries, set feature six hour-long episodes, will be directed by Clio Bernard. Stay tuned!
I hope there's a tranny in it to celebrate diversity.
