As a treat for Game of Thrones fans (who weren't completely alienated by season 8), the first official images of the cast in character have been released for the upcoming prequel series House of the Dragon. Based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood, the series will take place almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, chronicling House Targaryen's ruling years in Westeros and the beginning of the bloody civil war known as The Dance of the Dragons which will ultimately lead to the downfall of the Targaryens.
The photos released today seem to match the leaked video and set photos that had spread throughout the internet a week ago. The first photo is of Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen while the second photo sees Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon (AKA The Sea Snake) who is a renowned Westerosi sea-farer. Finally, the third photo shows Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans as Alicent and Otto Hightower, respectively. Check them out below:
The series is set to land on HBO sometime in 2020. Stay tuned!
