Earlier to today, we posted the official trailer for the indie horror film Cryo which we felt would be one of the most bizarre horror films of the year. We were wrong as that clearly should go to the upcoming film Flux Gourmet, the latest horror film (with odd subject matter) from writer/director Peter Strickland (2018's In Fabric).
Set at an institute devoted to culinary and alimentary performance, a collective finds itself embroiled in power struggles, artistic vendettas and gastrointestinal disorders. Yes, you read that right. Strickland's discussed his inspiration for the film last year, having this to say:
“Flux Gourmet came about through a personal frustration with how alimentary disorders or food allergies have been comically portrayed in some films, and without wanting to embark on a finger-wagging mission, I wanted to write something devoted to the disruptions of the stomach whilst attempting to maintain a degree of dignity to deeply private and embarrassing symptoms.”
Having premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year (February 11th), the film at least spoke well to early reviews, currently holding an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it'll be interesting to see how a horror film with esoteric (and frankly gross) subject matter works with a general audience. Check out the official trailer below to decide for yourself:
Flux Gourmet stars Asa Butterfield and Gwendoline Christie. It will be released in select theaters and on digital/VOD on June 24th.
That's the Thor trailer man.
