Probably one of the most dedicated actresses working today, Jessica Chastain's next role sees her take on a true story of an unlikely central figure in the form of Tammy Faye Bakker. The Eyes of Tammy Faye, based on the documentary of the same name by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, tells the story of Tammy Faye Bakker and her televangelist husband Jim Bakker who rose to prominence decades ago thanks to their religious TV show, cultivating millions of fans. However, the seemingly idyllic marriage between the two was rocked by a sex scandal involving Jim Bakker and Jessica Hahn.
With the film set to arrive in theaters on September 17th, People magazine has released some first look photos that show Chastain and her co-star Andrew Garfield (who plays Jim Bakker) in character, while also demonstrating Chastain's particular physical transformation. Something she noted herself:
“Every moment, I had something on my face. I have a dimple in my chin that she didn’t have, so we would seal that up. Her face was more round than mine, so I would have things on my cheeks. Their expertise just helped me so much with my confidence in playing her.”

The Eyes of Tammy Faye co-stars Cherry Jones and Vincent D'Onofrio. It is directed by Michael Showalter.
