While Space Jam: A New Legacy looks to do much of what the first one did, it looks like it's taking a page out of the playbook of the newer Jumanji films. having a more pragmatic approach to how the animated characters appear. Instead of a wacky transportation to the world of the Looney Tunes, LeBron James (Filling in for the first film's lead Michael Jordan), finds himself trapped in a virtual space with his young, aspiring video game developing son Dom (Played by Ceyair J. Wright). To get them home safe, James must lead Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Lola Bunny ,and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory in a basketball match against the digitized champions of a rogue algorithm named Al-G Rhythm (Played by Don Cheadle).
Set to be released theatrically and on HBO Max on July 16th, the first official images for the film has been released, displaying a wild tale that looks to see Bugs and the gang potentially depicted in a CGI manner (As opposed to the 2D animation from the first Space Jam and Looney Tunes: Back in Action). Hopefully this means a trailer is around the corner, but for now check out the images below:
Space Jam: A New Legacy co-stars Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Cedric Joe. It is directed by Malcolm D. Lee.
