Almost nothing is known about the upcoming Mortal Kombat film reboot beyond director Simon McQuoid promising an R-rated film that doesn't hold back on "blood, gore, or fatalities". A trailer is most likely right around the corner though as the first images have been released today. Check them out below:
Mortal Kombat stars Ludi Lin, Joe Taslim, Tadanobu Asano, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Josh Lawson, Lewis Tan, Chin Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada. It is set to be released in theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service by Warner Bros. Pictures on April 16, 2021.
R rated should be nice. But still, this game doesn't need a movie. It was actually based on some famous older martial arts movies like enter the dragon, blood sports and big trouble in little China.
