Final Trailer: "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire"

Whether you found 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife more in line with the original films or not than the 2016 reboot will most likely determine if you go see the new, more fantastical sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Perhaps one thing that is good is that the surviving original cast look to have more than an honorary cameo as they did in Afterlife.

In fact, alongside Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson, even Annie Potts is donning the jumpsuit. Even more shocking is Wiliam Artherton is returning in the role of Walter Peck, the cynical and over-zealous inspector for the Environmental Protection Agency who tried to shut down the Ghostbusters in the original 1984 film. Story-wise, new costar Kumail Nanjiani remarks that the filmmakers drew inspiration from the hit animated series The Real Ghostbusters (1986–1991) for the film, noting they "wanted to make a long episode of the animated series". In addition, while Afterlife director Jason Reitman returned to once again co-write the script with Gil Kenan, Kenan has taken over at the helm for Frozen Empire. So, in short, you you've got the old and the new influencing behind-the-scenes as much as in front of the camera.

As the new and old unite to stop an ancient artifact from unleashing a second Ice Age, the final trailer seems to indicate a reference to Aykroyd' own cancelled idea for Ghostbusters 3 that sees New York thrown into a hell-like scenario, though opting for a frozen hell instead. Check it out below:

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Celeste O'Connor, Logan Kim, and Patton Oswalt. It is set to hit theaters March 22nd.
