Courtesy of Indiewire, a special behind-the-scenes featurette has been released that delves into the sprawling historical epic The Last Duel which will land in theaters on October 15th. Not only does the short video cover a wide array of topics, but shows just how ambitious Ridley Scott is in crafting the film. The story is takes place during the Hundred Years’ War in 14th century France and dramatizes the last legally-sanctioned duel in France’s history. The duel took place between the knight Jean de Carrouges (Played by Matt Damon) and his best friend and squire Jacques Le Gris (Played by Adam Driver) with the former accusing the latter of raping his wife, Marguerite de Thibouville (Played by Jodie Comer).
In the featurette, Scott says, “For me, every scene has to have a stake. Large or small. The message is simple: What do I want the audience to walk away knowing?” As the video below shows, he wants them to know quite a lot:
The Last Duel co-stars Ben Affleck. Stay tuned!
