One of the examples where a classic film was well-adapted into a series is easily FX's Fargo. Set to enter it's fourth season (Which luckily finished filming before the COVID-19), the past seasons of this black comedy crime anthology series have seen various actors come and go. Billy Bob Thorton, Ewan McGregor, and Kirsten Dunst are only a few examples. Now, in a strange twist, comedian Chris Rock will make a dramatic turn as one of the two principal leads, next to fellow comedic actor Jason Schwartzman. Together they will play rival crime family heads in the 1950's who battle for complete control of Kansas City.
While an exact premiere date hasn't been announced yet, the new season has been confirmed to appear on FX and Hulu before the year is up. For now, check out the official teaser trailer for Fargo below:
Chris Rock? Seriously? Dude was never an actor so I have my doubts regarding this season. And nothing will ever top Billy Bob Thornton's character from season 1. I could watch 10 seasons of Fargo focusing on his character and not get bored.
One of the cool things I've enjoyed about this show is that every season seems to be connected in some way. In season 2 there was this black guy who seemed to be part of this Italian mafia family. It made me ask WTF. This season supposedly covers that story. The black crime family and the Italian crime family were at war but brokered a peace. To keep this peace the heads of the two families exchange sons. That's why there's this black kid in the Italian mafia family. Looking forward to seeing this in a time when there's not much to look forward to.
